AKL Makes Recruitment Its #1 Priority For Fall 2006

Alumni,

Our active chapter of Alpha Kappa Lambda has set a high recruitment goal for the Fall of 2006.  Our goal is to initiate 25 new members through our Ritual on alumni weekend (Nov. 3-5).  Our 22 active members feel that this goal is attainable and has laid out ground work to ensure the success of our recruitment this year.  We would sincerely appreciate high attendance at our alumni weekend Initiation so that these new members can be welcomed into the family we call the Beta Tau chapter of Alpha Kappa Lambda.

As of September 22nd, the active chapter has recruited 25 new pledges for the Fall semester.  These 25 men have been instructed on the expectations for their pledge class and informed of the rewards of being in the Fraternity of Alpha Kappa Lambda.  During our new member education program, these men will focus on the traditions of Alpha Kappa Lambda and the 5 Ideals of our National Fraternity.

Our members, lead by our 5 ideals (Judeo-Christian principles, leadership, scholarship, loyalty, and self-support) are representing our great Fraternity on the campus and inspiring undergraduate males to take interest in SIUE's Greek system.  For more info on the active chapter, please visit our website.

Thank you, alumni, for your continual support and the strong foundation that you formed.

AKL Represents Its 5 Ideals On Campus, 2005-06

Judeo-Christian Principles

The Beta Tau chapter participated in many service and

philanthropy events in the 2005-06 school year.  Among the most

successful were:

The Glen Ed Canned Food Drive – Fall 2005

14 actives participated in the annual loading and packaging drive that takes place at the Lincoln Middle School.

The men of AKL put in over 50 hours of service for the cause.

AKL Philanthropy Week – Spring 2006

The Beta Tau established an on-going tradition in the Spring of 2003 to hold an entire week of philanthropy and service.  In 2006,

the chapter continued this tradition by raising awareness through the “These Hands Don’t Hurt” promise wall,  a campus cleanup walk, and

many other events promoting our National Service and Philanthropy projects.  The chapter raisied over $300 for the Phoenix Crisis Center.

Curt, email him at – curtbrewer@akl.org.

Many of our actives spent numerous hours working towards a better

future fot the Beta Tau Chapter.  While these hours cannot be

calculated, the recent success of the chapter proves that their hard work

is paying off.

Self-Support

During the years in college, members of Alpha Kappa Lambda learn to maintain their college career while seeking to find their

future careers.  The Beta Tau chapter provided these men with numerous campus activities in the Spring while also providing them

with career activities during chapter meetings.  Our members learned tips and strategies on time management, career choices,

interviewing, and etiquette.

The active chapter is always looking for more educational Opportunities to help them advance themselves and their careers.

If any alumni can be of service in instructing or presenting career skills, please email the VP of membership development.
